NaBloPoMo ~ Day 4

Barring any miracles for the McCain hopefuls, looks like Barack Obama is WINNING the presidency! Woohoo!!!

I voted today with such hope. I've never felt that way before. Save President Clinton's years, every single presidential election I've voted in, I've voted for the lesser of two (or three) evils. This year, I was able to cast my vote with confidence in the future ~ with hope ~ and with great humility. Voting for a man that the first 16 (!!) presidents of the United States could have, theoretically, owned as a piece of property ~ wow. Sure, he's a junior senator from IL. The last junior senator from IL that won the presidency was Abraham Lincoln. Who needs experience? What kind of experience, exactly, does it require to be president, anyway? I can't think of a single job that could adequately prepare someone to be the leader of this country. I'm more interested in Barack Obama's take on health care, his plans for the economy, and getting us out of Iraq and Afghanistan quickly and safely. I'm thrilled that we are choosing a different path than the one we've been on for the last 8 years. I know that things will not change overnight, but I also have great expectations for this new leader. I believe that he will be a uniting force ~ not just in our country, but in our world.

I have such a warm feeling tonight. What a joyous day! Thank you, to everyone who voted ~ regardless of which candidate you chose today, you exercised a right that people ~ patriots ~ have died for, and for that we should all be thankful. Good for you, and for me, and for all of us.

God Bless America!
